Bleachers

Bleachers | East Wenatchee, WA | 2013

Solitude where crowds normally gather is a delicious experience. Main Street at 3 a.m. A cathedral on a Tuesday afternoon. Grandstands an hour after the game. In silence and stillness, details of a place emerge in sharper focus: leaves fluttering on curbside trees, gold trim on the altar’s tabernacle, sunset reflected on aluminum bleachers. Also, the departed throng sometimes leaves a residual presence — a lingering enthusiasm, excitement or energy — that gives the place life until the next big event.
