Aerial View | Above Brighton, Colorado | 2016
Mankind’s tracks become most obvious in winter. Roads, trails, sidewalks, patios — wherever snow has been cleared — look etched onto a pristine landscape. From thousands of feet up, you can easily identify Farmer Bob’s favorite routes from house to barn to field. Or students’ shortcuts across campus. Or favorite downtown shopping circuits. “Can you lower the window shade?” asked my jetliner seat mate. “I mean, there’s really nothing to see, right?” I delivered my best you-gotta-be-nuts stare, then gazed out the window until dark.
