Pebble Roof

Pebble Roof | Tacoma, WA | 2016

The Tacoma Art Museum overflows with imaginative and inspiring works. Its exhibits are always surprising, challenging and (best of all) accessible. Visitors can stand just feet away from artworks — sometimes even stand alone — for an intimate viewing experience not always available at larger museums. One added plus: The building’s designers haven’t ignored their urban surroundings. Floor-to-ceiling windows and open-air balconies provide views of historical architecture that are rich with detail from another era. I find these city vistas soothing, particularly after hours of mind-jangling modern art.
