Biplane | Seattle, WA | 2017
The Japanese man stood at the top of the escalator staring at the plane hanging from the airport ceiling. He fixated on it while people streamed around him. Two minutes, five minutes, gaze locked on the historic aircraft dangling before him. A family rushed past, and a little girl bumped into him. The contact startled the man and broke his reverie. He looked down at girl, then up again at the plane. He gave the craft a slow, deep bow — appreciation? reverence? —then stepped onto the escalator and descended out of sight.
