Salmon | Wenatchee, WA | August 2019
There’s no better lesson in fulfilling one’s purpose than to stand mesmerized at a salmon observation window. The huge fish, many ragged from their journeys upriver, swim with a determination rarely seen in daily life. Every muscle propels them to their duty, destination and destiny. Instinct guides them. “Swim river,” the universe whispers. “Lay eggs.”
[Fish ladders provide passage over dams for salmon migrating up the Columbia River. Most of the fish are oblivious to humans as they rocket past the observation windows. But every now and then one slows to give us the stink-eye.]
